Call for proposal to ECSA members: Teacher Training Workshop 2019

Dear ECSA members,

Within the framework of the Horizon 2020 Doing It Together Science (DITOs) project, we invite and encourage interested parties to submit proposals for organizing a workshop to train teachers in techniques of environmental and biodiversity monitoring with a focus on classroom and extracurricular activity formats. The aim is to increase youth participation in citizen science activities, to facilitate the participation of school teachers in environmental monitoring activities, and to build capacity in environmental and biodiversity monitoring.

The workshop should be planned and implemented by an ECSA member and made available to teachers and selected schools for continuous involvement in environmental monitoring and citizen science activities.
 

Awards information

Proposals may request a budget up to and including 1.500€ for the organisation of 1 or more workshops to be held until the end of April 2019.
 

Eligibility and selection criteria

Proposals that address exciting topics in creative formats that generate lively interactions among participants, and as well among teachers-students, are highly encouraged.

The Workshop Organizers are responsible for all the organizational aspects of the workshop and must meet the following requirements:

  • Need to comply with regulations of European projects;
  • Include ECSA, DITOs and EU flag logos in all communication material and agenda of the event;
  • Provide the list of participants with their signatures (and ECSA, DITOs and EU flag logos);
  • Photos of the event;
  • DITOs evaluation forms template filled by participants;
  • Send an invoice at the end of the workshop specifying all the services provided and costs.

 

Submission guidelines

Proposals should be sent in PDF format and include the following information:

  • Workshop title;

  • Proposers’ names, titles, affiliations, and primary contact email;

  • A brief description of the workshop and topics that will be covered;

  • Relevance to the youth participation on the citizen science community;

  • Relevance to the teachers and school community;

  • Rough program outline;

  • A short description of the intended format of the workshop;

  • A description of the communication and promotion plan, with an anticipated target audience as well as the expected number of attendees;

  • Relevant experience that makes the proposer well suited for organizing the workshop. If appropriate, a description of past versions of the workshop, including the number of attendees, etc.

The candidate workshop organizers will be notified of the decision by 25th January 2019.
