How are you performing research on Citizen Science, taking part in Citizen Science activities and/or supporting Citizen Science?:
I'm interested in Citizen Science with marginalized groups and have experiences in participatory research with unaccompanied minor refugees. I perform Citizen Science by addressing citizens as experts of their own life and situation and thereby empowering them to become co-researchers. Hence, my view of Citizen Science is research not about but with citizens who are invited as co-researchers. That allows me to address marginalized citizens not just from my privileged position as an academic but also from the inside. In particular I do Citizen Science as Peer Research. That means to create a safe space of intersubjective communication in which the co-researchers use their shared experience to ask each other questions and reflect their situation together, whereas my role is rather to step aside and provide a fruitful frame.
