The processing of the above-mentioned data is therefore carried out in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 letter f) DSGVO on the basis of a legitimate interest.

2.2 YouTube plugins and cookies on the website

This website uses YouTube to display and play videos. We use the extended data protection mode of YouTube (videos are not accessed via youtube.com, but via youtube-nocookie.com). To further protect your privacy, we have inserted a thumbnail that prevents data from being automatically forwarded to YouTube as you enter our website.

Only when you click on the image a connection to the Google network "DoubleClick" will be established, which may trigger further data processing operations without our influence. Your IP address and other data will then be transmitted, e.g. which of our websites you have visited. This information, however, cannot be assigned personally.

The moment you actually start the embedded video, YouTube uses cookies to collect information about user behaviour. According to information from YouTube, these are used, among other things, to record video statistics, improve user-friendliness and prevent abusive practices. The information collected do not contain any personally identifiable data, unless you are currently logged into a Google service. The cookies can be prevented by using appropriate browser settings and extensions.

For further information please refer to: Google / YouTube: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland - Data protection declaration / Opt-Out / Privacy Shield

2.3 Other personal data

Further personal data is only collected on our website if you provide it to us voluntarily, e.g. when filling out the contact form. We use the personal data you provide exclusively to answer your enquiries and for technical administration.

2.4 Converia

For the organization of the Call for Proposals and the selection for the program, we use the conference management software Converia. The event data is stored exclusively on servers in a German, ISO 27001-certified high-security data center. This means that the data is subject to strict DSGVO regulations. The data is only transmitted in SSL-encrypted form, which means that it remains protected from access by third parties. We collect the following data for participation in the call and the subsequent organization of the program: First name, surname, work address, telephone number, email address as well as the corresponding data of the co-authors of the contributions.

Further information on data protection on Converia you can find here and in the general data protection statement of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin.

3. Recipient of personal data

Apart from the technical uses stated above, your data will not be passed on to third parties unless this is necessary for the initiation or fulfilment of a contract or has been specifically agreed upon with the data subject(s).

Apart from the exception stated above with regard to YouTube, a transfer to third countries as defined by the GDPR does not take place without explicit prior consent by the data subject(s).

4. Duration of storage

The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. In this case, this includes all processes relating to the handling of the event and any subsequent information. If subsequent information is to be provided on a regular basis about further events, the visitor's own consent will be obtained for this.

5. Information about user rights

You have the right to ask for your personal data, to have it corrected if necessary, to request its processing to be restricted or for it to be deleted. The data will then be deleted. You can also revoke the permission to use your personal data at any time. This does not affect the legality of the processing up to the time of revocation.

If you have any questions or complaints about this website or if you have questions concerning the collection, processing or use of your personal data, to request information, correction, blocking or deletion of data, as well as to revoke permissions, please contact management using the contact details given above or contact our data protection officer at datenschutz@mfn.berlin.
